Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Tuesday approved a financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh each to the families of those from Jaipur who were killed in the Reasi terrorist attack.
Four members of a Jaipur family, including a two-year-old boy, were among the victims of the deadly terror attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district on Sunday evening.
Apart from Rajendra Saini, 44, and Rajendra’s wife Mamta, 40, Rajendra’s niece Pooja, 30, and Pooja’s two-year-old son Levansh were killed in the attack.
CM Sharma approved a financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the immediate kin of both Rajendra and Pooja. In a statement, the government said that the assistance has been approved by relaxing the rules of the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, and that the funds have been granted from the revolving fund.
Earlier in the day, as the bodies reached Chomu in Jaipur, locals sat on a dharna and demanded compensation while local businesses remained shut. Additional police force was also deployed to check any untoward incident. The protest was called off only after an agreement was reached with the administration.As per the agreement, apart from the ex-gratia sum, two dependents of the deceased will be also be given contractual jobs and a dairy booth will also be allotted.
The CM said that in these difficult times, the state government stands with the affected families and all possible help is being provided to them. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, there is a policy of zero tolerance against terrorism in the country. He said the culprits will not go unpunished and that “no terrorist involved in this dastardly attack will be spared by the security forces.”
